Pastor Mavin has been married to his wife Trina since 1992. They met each other in the first grade, where even then, Pastor Mavin left Mrs. Mavin speechless, an exercise whether good, bad, or indifferent he still engages in today. The Mavin’s have 8 grown children ; 1 daughter, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 son-in-law, 7 sons, and 10 grandchildren.
.
Pastor Mavin has been in pastoral ministry for over three decades in a variety of positions within the local church, mission field, and Christian education. At the beginning of his career, he did pastoral work vocationally which focused on youth ministry. For the last number of years he has continued in pastoral roles as a tent maker. During the bulk of this time, he has been in the non-profit world, specifically in the arena of Organ, Tissue, and Eye donation. His most current vocational role has him performing the recovery surgery of the eyes. He is part of an amazing apparatus that enables providing a surviving next of kin the opportunity to be able to potentially provide the gift of sight for up to two people who are experiencing corneal blindness.
He is an adult who believes in the leadership potential of every person, especially that of students. Everyone at different times is a leader. He is passionate about helping students to discover this and to use this, along with the development of a relationship with Jesus Christ, to influence this world in a positive way.
A phenomenal avenue for all of the above is found within Christian education, where,
different than the local church, there is exponentially more time to instruct and influence.
Additionally, he has served in a variety of leadership and teaching roles
at a number of private Christian Schools in Southeastern Michigan and has current board positions on several non-profit ministries.
