Christin Lynn Mavin was a passionate, born again follower of Jesus. From a very young age, Christin was hardly someone that could be told what to do. She was a leader and a doer. As someone who couldn’t be told what to do, she was an amazing advocate for people who found themselves in need of help, hope, or love. As a wife and mother of three children, the Mavin’s home was always open to nearly anyone. Her influence and love extended way past her own family. She was an advocate at heart and saw people’s potential.
She and Kyle, her husband, had a daughter who struggled in school, even though she worked very hard. As it turns out, after some encouragement to seek professional help and take an assessment, it was discovered that their daughter had dyslexia. Armed with this new knowledge, changes were made in the classroom along with changes in how she studied. Fast forward a number of years through high school and college, this daughter is now a sought after Registered Nurse on a surgical team at Alabama Children’s Hospital which transplants various organs into children in need of them.
Christin not only advocated for people’s physical and emotional needs, but she was also driven to help meet their spiritual needs too. She was a passionate and in process born again follower of Jesus. She knew what Jesus had accomplished in and through her life and wanted nothing more than the same for others. Before Christin died on May 26, 2024, she gave specific instructions that the focus of her funeral service was to tell people about Jesus Christ, and how they could have their sins forgiven. Her request was granted.
This fund will help keep her legacy alive through the ongoing work of Rooted Christian Academy, a K-12 school who is committed to seeing that students, no matter what their physical or educational challenges might be, are equipped with an unyielding biblical worldview from which they can develop a life of purpose, rooted in biblically supported principles.
