A Fresh Approach

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;
because you have rejected knowledge,”

– Hosea 4:6a

With integrated faculty collaboration and the adherence to subject mastery, Rooted will have a
three day school week as its primary structure. Within these three days of instruction all core subjects will be offered.
Additionally functional life skills courses will be offered as well. Efficiency in instruction and work allocation
allows such a schedule.

For example, a middle or high school student may have three subjects that they are taking, History, English, and Bible. Through faculty collaboration there will be coordination of instruction and projects. In this scenario the students may be assigned a paper to write whose scope accommodates criteria from each class. They would be writing one paper, but that one paper would be submitted and graded in all three classes. The need for busy work is taken out of the equation.
With three days of intentional instruction this leaves one or two additional days within the week for the students to be on campus for tutoring or extra help with their core work or projects they are working on.

On a monthly basis one of the non-instruction days will be set aside as a leadership day, Leadership Friday. These times will be filled with intentional opportunities to serve within the community. In essence, these are regular mission trips where the students identified, coordinated resources, and helped to establish a workflow to accomplish the objectives of each project. These times will be built on opportunities for the students to incorporate, in a very practical way, what they are currently learning in many of the core classes, and certainly that which they were learning in their bible and leadership classes.

Leadership Fridays also afford the opportunity for the students to learn functional life skills too. Skills like how to change a tire, how to change the oil in your car, cooking, cleaning, exposure to and instruction in the use of power tools, all of which at different times were tied in with the need for a God honoring work-ethic. Rooted will also facilitate one field trip a month on a Friday. These may require an additional cost.
